A Sydney based photographer, Jess Paton's 'Hirafu, Japan' documents a four day visit commencing her trip in Japan. Shooting (Portra 400) on a Pentax k1000 & an Olympus Stylus; The body of work has unique, seldom and candid qualities born to clear admiration of an environment completely alien to her. Aptitude with composition is evident within the detailed focus paid to colour, texture & sharp contrasted lines. Capturing early evening light enabled the author to carry an abstract influence in utilising malleable & soft texture.

Speaking on Hirafu; "...There was barely anyone around, I really loved how empty some of the scenes appear, holding with them just traces of people i.e cans, foot prints in the snow, or an abandoned car or tractor"
